It’s not what you look at that matters. It’s what you see.

Henry David Thoreau

I want to capture the world as I see it, not how it wants to be seen. To that end, I prefer candids, landscapes and architecture. I enjoy working with natural light and stick to an organic, cool colour palette. Much of my visual inspiration stems from films, particularly My Neighbor Totoro, Call Me By Your Name and Atonement.

I alternate between a Nikon Z7II, a Nikon D7200, an iPhone 14 Pro and – when I’m feeling particularly methodical – an Olympus OM-10. At William & Mary, I was the Photo Director for Spoon University and a staff photographer for Vinyl Tap. During my semester abroad, I was selected to be a Student Photographer for DIS Copenhagen. Recently, I was the Head of Photography & Video for Varsity before progressing to Visual Editor. Now, I occasionally work as a freelance portrait, event and gig photographer.

On Instagram, my photography has been reposted by several accounts, including @afarmedia, @terraincafe, @copenhagenexplore, @camdiary, @cambridgelittlegems, @fitzbillies, @disabroad and @iloveocnj, among others.

I’ve worked with a range of clients in a variety of settings, including but not limited to graduation portraits, professional headshots and live events like gigs and sport. To hire me for freelance work, please email katiekasperson at icloud dot com or contact me via Instagram (@katieincambridge).
